Upcoming Events for 2012-2013

September 24, 2012: Western Illinois Reading Council will host Digesting the Common Core at 6:00 p.m. at Western Illinois University, Horrabin Hall, One University Circle, Macomb, Illinois. The cost to register is $2 for WIRC members/students and $5 for non-members.


October 11, 2012: Western Illinois Reading Council will host a Grant Writing Workshop at 6:00 p.m. at Knox College, George Davis Hall, 2 East South Street, Galesburg, Illinois. The cost to register is $2 for WIRC members/students and $5 for non-members.


January 28, 2013: Western Illinois Reading Council will host the Daily 5 & the CAFE at 6:00 p.m. at Monmouth College, 700 E. Broadway, Monmouth, Illinois. The cost to register is $2 for WIRC members/students and $5 for non-members.


March 14-16, 2013: Illinois Reading Council will host the 45th Annual IRC Conference, Literacy for Life, in Springfield, Illinois. Please take a moment to peruse the Conference Preview. Housing and Registration forms will be available in October 2012!

March 21, 2013: Western Illinois Reading Council will host Hot Books, Hot Trivia, & Hot Dogs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Western Illinois University, Horrabin Hall, One University Circle, Macomb, Illinois. The cost to register is $2 for WIRC members/students and $5 for non-members.

April 19-22, 2013: International Reading Association will host the 58th Annual Convention, Celebrating Teachers Making a Difference, in San Antonio, Texas. To find out more about this convention, check out the Annual Convention section at www.iraconvention.org.

April 20, 2013: Western Illinois Reading Council will host a Young Authors Celebration from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Western Illinois University, Horrabin Hall 78, One University Circle, Macomb, Illinois. This is a FREE event!

These foldable activities can be integrated in all subject areas and can be used for alternative assessment.
